This year marks the
51st
anniversary of Kwanzaa, a cultural holiday created by Dr. Maulana Karenga. Although observance of the holiday is increasing globally, many still don’t grasp its purpose and principles. Whether one celebrates the holiday or is seeking to expand their knowledge of its values and symbols, the books featured are good resources for learning and sharing. All are picture books, except The Children’s Book of Kwanzaa: A Guide to Celebrating the Holiday; it contains more detailed historical information as well as ideas for the observance. No matter how one chooses to celebrate Kwanzaa between December 26th-January 1st, books are always a great addition. Happy Kwanzaa!
